"When you hear the name Carl Butler, the image of Carl & his wife Pearl singing "Dont Let Me Cross Over" enters the mind. However, Bear Family Records has released this incredible Carl Butler Collection (along with the Webster Bros) that demonstrates the clear and strong voice of one incredibly talented vocalist.....sadly, a vocalist who is often overlooked. When you hear the 30 numbers presented here, you relaize that Carl can hold his own with the likes of George Jones, Faron Young, and even Carl Smith. Yes, Carl Butler is that good. This album has the not only the true honky-tonk country sound you'd expect, but also some stellar gospel standards reminiscent of those days of camp meetings and Sundays on the front porch. These are original Okeh and Columbia recordings from the mid-1950's and Bear Records has provided a clear sounding album that sounds like it was mixed and recorded yesterday. This one is a "must have". Get it while it still available."
