CD ReviewsEvery track from every album of the Champs plus 4 bonus trac Bradley Olson | Bemidji, MN United States | 07/20/2003 (5 out of 5 stars) "Although the Champs are remembered only for the classic "Tequila," this now out-of-print collection of all 4 of their albums with 4 bonus tracks flat from the LP masters will tell you there is much more to the Champs than just their signature hit and in fact on the first disc, it contains the entire "Go Champs Go" and the entire "Everybody's Rockin'" album which are both very solid albums of classic material. Besides "Tequila," they contain "El Rancho Rock," "Midnighter," "Chariot Rock," "What's Up Buttercup," "Go Champ Go," and other classics. While Go Champs Go is entirely mono, the majority of the "Everybody's Rockin'" album is in true stereo on this disc while it is 100% in true stereo on the Ace UK twofer of these 2 albums. On the 2nd disc, it contains their "Great Dance Hits" with Champs versions of such dance classics as the Hokey Pokey, Bunny Hop, The Twist, and the charted single "Tequila Twist," and the album "The Champs Play All American" which is the Champs version of an album based on a Broadway play of the same name, but the album is geared to vintage rock and roll fans, not Broadway fans. The majority of the 2nd disc is in true stereo with only 5 mono tracks. The 4 bonus tracks are the charted single "Limbo Dance," their cover of the Peter Gunn theme, a cover of the Bill Doggett classic, "Honky Tonk," and a cover of the Jimmy Forrest standard, "Night Train," all in stereo. If you ever see a copy listed at the used CD department of Amazon, eBay, GEMM, etc. please order it right away. This is essential to any vintage rock and roll instrumental collection as these are solid albums so you really don't need any of the Best of The Champs compilations out there, all you need is this 2 CD set."
