"Anner Bylsma's amazing technique and beautifully lucid sound meld in this recording into a wonderful whole. The orchestra has alternately a crisp and lyrical tone which is perfect for Boccherini's classical style. One gets the sense that this is chamber music rather than orchestra vs. soloist. Bylsma is at pains to dissociate himself from that class which asserts that it alone is in possession of the correct recipe for performing period music, but he is undoubtedly thorough in his research of earlier string technique, while creating a sound which is extremely satisfying even to those accustomed to modern cello technique. The intonation is flawless, the melodic line never falters, and the double stops are heaven."
Wonderful

"I have had this performance for some time now, and I constantly return to it. It is always dazzling and refreshing. I have enjoyed many of Anner Bylsma's recordings (see especially his Bach Cello Suites) and always find the rich, full sound of his cello and playing particularly appealing. If you do not know Boccherini's cello concertos but have enjoyed cello works by Bach or Haydn, rest assured there is much to love here."
