Synopsis
Album Description Ultra-romantic neo-classical doomy, dark metal. Celestial Season feature two conservatory-trained female violinists augmenting a heavy-duty line-up of two guitars, bass, drums, & a low, growly (think early My Dying Bride) vocalist. This is like the perfect blend of 'Paranoid' era Black Sabbath, In the Woods, & My Dying Bride! Occasional use of wah-wah peddle on the guitars give the band a retro-psychedelic feel (happily, they don't overdo it) akin to the bands on Kissing Spell's series of early '70s metal re-issue albums. Check out their epic doom reworking of Ultravox's classic 'Vienna,' alone totally worth the price of admission! Displeased. Similar CDs

CD ReviewsGreatest album from dutch doom metal band - Celestial Season autor24 | Tallinn, Estonia | 06/08/2003 (5 out of 5 stars) "Celestial Season - "Solar Lovers" is great blend of Dutch stoner-ish doom with 2 violins - GREAT! Get this. This CD is worth to buy!" A goth/doom classic Branislav Kolarski | Serbia | 12/03/2006 (5 out of 5 stars) "This band form Holland is long gone now. This album is it's legacy.
The music is slow. 2 violines. Deep growl vocals. Raw production. The thing that is very unusual for for a doom band is wah-wah guitar effect. It has some very innovative elements, considering it was released in 1995. This band changed a lot, due to the line up changes and finished the career as a totally different kind of band. This is their best release. Maybe the only one that deserves your attention. This is a reissue of this great classic album. I don't know how long you'll be able to buy it, because I don't know if it will be reprinted again. I'm glad I found it. So hurry up." |
