Not bad, but not smooth or consistent

"A fair compilation, it's being marketed as a "collection of laid back grooves". Well, when I think of laid-back grooves, I think of stuff I can just really chill out on the couch with, not dance to, and most of this record breaks that rule for me. I do so hate false advertising. In any event, it's not a bad compilation. It's got a heavy jazz-influence, so if you're not into the whole acid jazz/fusion vibe, this is not the record for you. Don't let the fact that LTJ Bukem put it together fool you: there's not a house, d'n'bass or jungle track on here. It's lounge music, not lounging music; not the stuff he does, but definitely the stuff where he derives his tone (and samples) from. Some of it is exactly what I was looking for from a "laid-back compilation (#3, #6), however, for the record: "laid-back" does not mean "use acoustic-sounding instrumentation to get jazzy feel". A dance track (#1, 2, 4, 9) is still a dance track. At at a mere 9 cuts, I feel a little robbed."
