Too short!

"This is a truly remarkable EP. It marks the point when Cave-In began to part with their metalcore roots and develop their Jupiter-era sound. The first song, Luminance finds them somewhere in between the styles on Until Your Heart stops and Jupiter. The vocals are still raw and the riffs are angular and heavy, but the music has more of a tripped out progressive vibe. The first verse is so intense it defies explaination. I wish Cave-In had done a whole album like this, it's one of the best songs they have written. The segue tracks or 'sonatas' are cool but I find myself skipping over them as they seem to be there mostly just to create a sense of atmosphere for the album and don't really go anywhere by themselves. The Failure cover is cool and indicates the more pop/alternative rock direction they would eventually explore with the Antenna album. I'm not a huge Failure fan but they pull off the cover very well. And the short acoustic track Burning Down the Billboards is a real surprise as it sounds nothing like the rest of the band's material. It's a nice juxtaposition between the calm folk-influenced music and the anarchistic lyrics. All in all, this is a great EP, and essential for any fan of this talented and multifaceted group of musicians."
