"What is interesting about this Human Jerky (1999) is the ferocity of the music: Extremely distorted guitars and non-stoping blastbeats are the background to a high-pitched voice with a lower end in the back (wich is different to the new releases, with the death growls over the screamings. The songs are pretty fast and the average lenght is about one minute per track (!) (just like the the old Napalm death or Carcass)Lyrics are explicit and gore oriented, so be careful because you're gonna hear words like: colon, carnage, bowels, stench, etc.
Production is not the best, but is enough to ¨understand¨ the tracks. Album cover art is awesome, a decapitated cow over a puddle of blood. If you have the oportunity to find the picture disc (a 12" LP with the art printed over the vinyl) go for it! It's hand numbered, limited to 1500 copies in the world, and the cover art looks better than the regular CD.
Cattle decapitation first official record (let's forget about ¨Ten torments of the dammed¨) is great as a starting point, but you should check ¨Homovore¨, ¨To serve man¨ and ¨Humanure¨ to understand the evolution of the band. Oh, I forgot, their 7¨ split with Caninus is amazing because it has the Human Jerky-ish grinding brutality with the addtition of an outstanding production and a more complex songwritting."
