Product DescriptionBeginning life as Jason NeSmith's cassette four-track project with an ever-changing name, Casper & The Cookies grew into a live band in 1998. Kay Stanton is the only one left from these early line-ups. Kay and Jason recorded 2004's Oh! and 2006's The Optimist's Club with a revolving cast of musicians. The Cookies took a back seat in 2004 when NeSmith joined of Montreal, but he left in early 2005 to work on The Optimist's Club. Jim Hix and Joe Rowe (the Glands) were recruited in time for the Cookies to play upwards of 120 shows in 2006-7, including two tours opening for the Apples in Stereo. Joe left in early 2009 after the Cookies' second tour of Japan. Modern Silence will be released May 12, 2009 via Happy Happy Birthday To Me Records (CDs) and People In A Position To Know (Vinyl.) Fun Facts: - Jason NeSmith has also played with Visitations, The Late B.P. Helium, Kenny Howes & the Yeah!, The Sunshine Fix and of Montreal. Kay plays in Pylon member Vanessa Briscoe Hay's other band, Supercluster, with members of Sound Houses and Olivia Tremor Control. - "I Am Gone," the final track on Modern Silence, features thirty-five musicians, including Bryan Poole (of Montreal), Robert Schneider (the Apples in Stereo), Vanessa Briscoe Hay (Pylon), and an African Grey parrot. No members of Casper & the Cookies appear on the track.
