CD ReviewsSublime...Fusion at its best Robert Harvey | Lancaster, CA USA | 02/26/1999 (5 out of 5 stars) "If you have never heard Casiopea, you should. Especially if you are a jazz/fusion band. Casiopea is quite simply the tightest, most melodic jazz fusion band I have heard. If you like the original Yellowjackets album, you will love Casiopea. Although this album is about twenty years old, it is probably one of the best the band's ever done. For those of you who are recording afficionados, the album was originally done on a 32 track digital recorder, which was unheard of in those days. Most bands are in the studio six months to a year making an album; Casiopea typically records an ENTIRE album in the studio over a two to six week period!I can't say enough about this album. The members of Casiopea had by this point refined their sound to a razor sharp perfection, while at the same time staying creative. I have owned literally hundreds of albums in my life, and this one still rates as one of my favorites." Exactly what I expect from issei noro. Robert Harvey | 02/15/1999 (5 out of 5 stars) "The first track, Asayake is the best instrumental song I've ever heard to wake up with. The YAMAHA-tone of this band is fully expressed in this album. This band has released almost 30 albums, and this is one of my 2 most-favorite CASIOPEA's issues. The other one is FULL COLORS. The difference between the former and the latter is that the rhythm part. Overall, NARUSE YOSHIHIRO's thechnic supercedes that of SAKURA TETSUO, the ex-bassist of the band. Eyes of Mind sounds there is nothing unnecessary and what necessary is all in its position. The only problem is, this album may mislead people who haven't listened to japanese music except this one to believe other japanese musicians are so nice, too( but there are a lot of wonderful musicians in Japan, and CASIOPEA is one of the top-class musicians)."
