Synopsis
Album Description Carol Noonan is an original, but one of those rare originals who somehow feels familiar. She's not going off on wild tangents to develop her style; she just happens to be good enough to take on familiar turf and give it her unique treatment. She sounds established and professional; her delivery is at once timeless and contemporary. Hers is a voice at first appealing and then addictive; its rich warmth and texture work a spell that's impossible to ignore. As for her songs, they are all strong and each employs various strengths; they mine a variety of musical influences to become their own unique blend of patient intensity and power. The band has a good bit to do with that established sound, but Carol Noonan has supplied them with more than enough motivation to give her their best work. --Music Reviews Quarterly Similar CDs

CD ReviewsExcellent mixture of old and new styles 06/11/1998 (4 out of 5 stars) "Carol Noonan has always been an excellent folk artist, but here she really explores new styles as well. She can still sing more emotinally than just about anyone-especially on the traditional "Queen Jane"--but also saves energy for "Not Comming Home", much more of a "rock" song than a folk ballad. For all the comparisons to Sandy Denny and Lorraina McKennit, I believe that shes an excellent modern singer-songwriter and performer in her own right. And its on "The Only Witness" where this can be seen most clearly."
