"This recording is almost, but not quite, definitive to me. The technical excellence of the soloists, chorus, orchestra, and conductor is exemplary. If you want to hear what this music SHOULD sound like, this is the recording. I can think of no other that is even close. The clarity and strength with which the music is performed is unmatched by any other recording. This is my favorite recoding of Carmina.

Problem: the tempi are rather slower than I would like, and this robs the music of some of its energy. Still, all in all, a really great recording of this difficult music.

I would put this at the top of your shopping list, even ahead of the jochum recording Carl Orff: Carmina Burana.
