"I have become a fan of Carlos Ponce. He has his own style. Good looks, but his voice even better. Good pop music, with a human touch. His songs/lyrics are moving and inspiring. Good rhythm and Latin energy. I'm happy that I bought this CD (actually, by chance). It's become my favorite along with his newer album "Todo lo que soy". Not recommended for dancer-lovers. But if you like romantic songs this one is definitely worth trying and I strongly recommend it."

"I've never bought a Latin album before this one. I was flipping through TV stations, and caught his Rezo video on a Spanish language channel, and fell in love with the song. After checking out his fan club page and seeing him in several interviews in the states, I have nothing but respect for him. He has a great sense of humor, and is a _role_ model as much as a model. And to all of you who trashed this CD: Ricky has a different style than Carlos, and Julio is still _very_ immature... but Carlos will have staying power. You must have only _listened_ to the music - because if you truly _heard_ it, you would appreciate the passion in his singing. A record producer can make a singer's voice sound better - but he can't fake passion."
Don't buy it for his looks, buy it for the music.

"I am sick and tired of Latin singer with poor or mediocre voices, but great looks (Chayanne, Ricky Martin, etc). I was quite surprised when I listened to this cd and found that here that was not the case. Carlos Ponce has great looks (can we talk?) and a really decent (not great) voice. BUT CAN HE DELIVER A SONG!! One listen to Decir Adios , rezo, & Te Vas. And you'll be hooked. I really can't wait for his second cd (And hopefully retail music video)."
A good showcase for Carlos

"Carlos Ponce's self-titled album is an excellent example of contemporary Latin pop. The songs on this CD are an effective mix of different styles, and Carlos gives a fine performance on each selection. His voice is particularly appealing: masculine, but gentle, with a slightly rough edge. And I really liked his enunciation of the CD's Spanish lyrics. The songs are a mix of fast-tempo songs and emotional ballads. Many of the songs have strong Latin flavorings. The first song, "Rezo," is a good pop song that makes effective use of female backup singers. "Recuerdo" has a sly, funky sound. The energetic "Morena" features prominent percussion and Latin guitar accents. Carlos performs the mellow ballad "Sera" with a gentle passion, and gets more dramatic on the next ballad, "Decir Adios." "Todo Por Tu Amor" is a fast-paced song with more of a rock sound. "Rezo Club Remix" is an interesting variation on the first song. Each of the other songs is also worth listening to.Carlos Ponce demonstrates both versatility and enthusiasm on this CD. Fans of Latin music won't want to miss this one."
Are all Puerto Ricans born great singers?

"In the beginning there was Ricky Martin. then came Chayanne. Well, step aside boys, here's the next wave to come out of the Carribean island and boy, it looks like a tsunami! Meet Carlos Ponce. He sings with a passion not unlike Martin and a sensuality in his voice that's unmatched. The lyrics are good too and Emilio Estefan's production on most of the songs are spot on. It perfectly highlights the smoky tenor quality of Ponce's voice. My favourites are of course 'Reza' and the ballad 'Decir Adios' which incidentally has gone #1 on Billboard Latin Tracks chart. Oh yes, check out 'Todo Por Tu Amor' if you think he only sings boleros. He really rocks on that one! I definitely recommend this CD for all those who want an introduction to Latin American music. Even if you don't understand Spanish, this disc will have you pressing the repeat button again and again and again, because it is that good! And Carlos, if you're reading this, I really enjoyed your performance when you came down to KL, Malaysia recently. Hope to catch you performing in this part of the world again."
