Great early compilation

"A great hippie album! This is a compilation of early songs from Captain Beefheart. The songs are short; most are less than 3 minutes. These songs were produced before the coarse, challenging Trout Mask Replika, simply one of the strangest albums ever made. (I love side 1 of Trout Mask Replika, but there are large portions of it I find unbearable). But here with "Beefheart at His Best" the music is lots more accessible. I would compare the music on this CD with a later work called "Clear Spot". My favorite on here is no doubt the song "Electricity", a deranged number that clip-clops along like a drunken donkey. Yee-haw! High voltage, man... Throughout the CD, Beefheart's one-of-a-kind bellowing voice is strong and on-target. If you like music of the late sixties, you really need to add this to your collection."
