Synopsis

Album Description
Emerged in the late 80?s from St. Mary, Jamaica, Capleton took the reggae world by storm and proved to be one of Jamaica?s most consistent and beloved artists. Known by many names: The Prophet, King Shango, and The Fire Man, Capleton?s intense lyrics and thunderous voice speaks of reasoning and devotion to the most high as well as political and social awakening. With previous releases on Def Jam Records and VP, and a Grammy nomination, the world has been holding it?s breath for a new Capleton album for quite sometime now. Well, the wait is over! The People Dem finds the prophet at his absolute peak; unleashing his wisdom over deep rootsy production and infectious dancehall riddims, this is a powerful album that will surely gain him new followers as well as please his devoted fan base. Capleton shines brighter than ever and proves the world, once again, why he is still Dancehall?s ruling voice. Behold the return of the fire man!

CD Reviews

Rehash but still worth the cash

(3 out of 5 stars)

"This is a disturbing trend in the prolific dancehall artist category. Most of the tracks from this album first appeared on an album called Toe 2 Toe Vol. 3 featuring about 9 tracks each from Sizzla and Capleton. I counted a total of 6 new tracks on this album (Movements, Mass Media, Mankind, Woman Dem A Gwan, Burn Dem Down, and No Time). They are decent. The best IMHO is Burn Dem Down as it is very rough and brings back the deep cuts of Capleton's edge.

Looks like Capleton can't keep up w/ his main man Sizzla. Not that Sizzla doesn't do the same trick with one or two tracks on occasion."
