Album Description Approaching the 20 year mark as a band, THE CAKEKITCHEN remains humble and true to its Kiwi indie roots with its 10th Full Length release Stories For Late At Night. New Zealand native Graeme Jeffries wields every instrument behind his dramatic vocals similarly to solo acoustic artists such as ELLIOT SMITH and THE MOUNTAIN GOATS. Having toured in Europe with THE MOUNTAIN GOATS in 1996, its likely that Graeme's quick wit and sombre lyrics had some influence. Now German based, the band looks forward to touring the USA again since its last collaboration with NC label Merge. After creating the title track to Sonnenallee, a popular film about the trials of love and life in East Germany, THE CAKEKITCHEN worked on several German cd releases which have yet to make it to the states. Stories For Late At Night stands as the bands re-entrance into the American indie/folk music scene. With a 14-page lyrics booklet, and 12 unheard tracks, Cake-heads can be assured that its not all they'll be eating up.
