"Cacho Tirao was more than one of the most important guitarists in Argentina. He was a musical ambassador to the world.
Cacho Tirao performed publicly and to great acclaim almost from the time he learned to play the guitar at age four. As a child he was a radio star. During the 60's, Tirao was a member of the Astor Piazzolla Quintet. After leaving Piazzolla he pursued a very successful solo career as a performer and a composer.
Sadly, Cacho suffered an embolism while performing in 2000 and was just recovering enough to resume performing when a stroke took his life in 2006.
The tracks on this CD are not confined to Argentine tango, but represent a variety of music from all over South America. Although this CD was released in 2006, the recordings were made in 1985 when he was at the height of his performing career.
Highly recommended."
