CD ReviewsFavorite of Series, So Far R. Williams | Los Angeles, CA United States | 11/22/2008 (5 out of 5 stars) "I happened to hear one of the tracks on this disc on Pandora. Was not too surprised to find it was CPE, having recently discovered this great disc: La Casa del Diavolo.
These concerti definitely sound like the bridge between the baroque world and the Classical period (Haydn/Mozart). There is a lot of drama in these particular pieces. The Largo in the second concerto here is amazing, as dark and brooding as Mozart's Posthorn Serenade or his Symphonia Concertante. Been buying a lot of the other discs in this set. They are all great." |
