Synopsis

Album Description
GEMINI features an impressive roster of singers, conductors, soloists and ensembles of international renown, all from the incomparable EMI Classics stable. EMI's rich legacy of recording expertise comes to the fore in performances from the 1960s to the 1990s. Gemini titles are predominantly collections of single composers making them the ideal place to start or develop a collection of classical music. Each set contains over two hours of music for a fantastically low price. Each 2-CD set is attractively designed and packaged in space-saving brilliant boxes with accompanying three-language booklets. This release of 5 Gemini titles will bring the total number of titles in the series to 195. As with previous Gemini releses, this installment includes many recordings new to CD and as well as recordings that have been transferred from Double Forte. All are single-composer releases, and fantastic value with well over an hour of music on each CD. Among these excellent releases in this installment are performances by Yehundi Menuhin, Leonard Bernstein, Riccardo Muti, Lionel Rogg, and others! These titles have been digitally remastered to the highest standards at the world-famous Abbey Road Studios.

CD Reviews

A Great Sampling of Buxtehude from EMI and Rogg
Rick A. Graber | Anchorage, | 05/08/2010
(5 out of 5 stars)

"For years I had looked for a re-issue on CD of the complete Buxtehude organ works by Rogg. I have it on an 8 record set from back in the LP days and this CD is a good compromise for the whole set. Rogg is a very fine artist, the recordings are exciting, and they are competitive with the Chapuis set, which is still my very favorite. I am particularly fond of Rogg's rendition of the Prelude and Fugue in F-Sharp Minor, which is a very exiciting piece. The price is great, the artistry is of the highest callibre, and unless and until EMI releases the complete works, this is a worthy, if temporary substitute."
