Youth gems from the Romantic era

"One wouldn't probably believe that these two composers were 22 and 18 yrs old when they wrote these pieces! If you like Schubert and Schumann, you'll love these two symphonies. They are really well written, with catchy melodies, nice touches of counterpoint and crisp orchestration. I particularly appreciate the Scherzo from Burgmüller's piece and the (very) lovely "Adadio cantabile" from Staehle. Kassel's orchestra (Mahler used to direct it!) is quite good and Marc Piollet's direction always inspired. Really worth hearing it. Really! Too bad these two geniuses died so young ...."
