CD ReviewsBuoys a Blast From the Past 05/10/1999 (4 out of 5 stars) "Everyone remembers their hit "Timothy." This album offers most of the tracks from the Buoys' 1971 debut album and then a few. "Give Up Your Guns" is one of the best story songs (along with "Timothy") ever written. Other tracks are solid rockers from this largely overlooked band from the early 1970s." Clarification for Posterity... Erik B. Karlsson | Kansas City, MO USA | 12/06/2006 (3 out of 5 stars) "A previous poster noted that the writer, Rupert Holmes, said that Timothy was a mule. This is incorrect - Rupert always claimed the song was hinting at cannibalism since his purpose in writing it was to create a song that would be banned, and therefore it would create its own publicity. The record's original label came up with the mule story - which was quickly quashed by Holmes when he was interviewed since he refused to play along with the label. Regardless, as a pop album from the early 70's, this isn't a bad go..." Forget Timothy J. Whitney | New York | 05/06/2006 (5 out of 5 stars) "The entire CD has some wonderful gems other than the well known "Timothy" There are upbeat songs, tight harmonies, some sound as if they were just released today. The Buoys rock!"
