"Mr. Green has a beautiful sound on the alto saxophone. His improvisations are sophisticated with a lot of umph. He was a major influence on Steve Coleman and I can definitely hear Mr. Green's complexity in Steve's music (Steve takes it to a different level). Mr. Green has a way of taking jazz standards and definitely putting his own personal stamp on it. His playing of the slower tunes almost brings tears to my eyes. The music is never boring. He also has a stellar rhythm section of Billy Childs (piano), Art Davis (bass) and Ralph Penland (drums). I'm always looking for fresh sounds and this recording definitely hits the spot. Highest recommendation. Cat"
