"I walked into a music store with this cd playing and bought it on the spot. This is probably the best cd I've heard in a decade. I never get sick of it - can't go a day without listening to it. The music is great - great guitars - great vocals - but the lyrics are incredible. The messages in these songs go right to the core - if you've ever had your heart blown wide open and found yourself in so much pain and passion that life has brought you to your knees while all your wildest dreams were on the cusp of coming true, you'll relate to these songs. Some of my favorite phrases from this cd are: "Everytime I think I'm clean, fate evens up the score, I never considered that this ache would keep coming back. It's an evil wind that's kicking me along." "You want someone to count you out, but there is no referee." "I want to live my life like a blind man - never looking back." "One man's ceiling is another man's floor."Simple lyrics, profound messages."

"I~ LOVE~ THESE~ GUYS! This is the best CD I've purchased in the last 2 years. Buffalo Nickel's sound is sort of a cross between the Gin Blossoms and the Eagles - Southern / Alternative Rock at it's best. If you are planning a road trip any time soon, you need this one for your car. The best tracks (and lines) are: This Ain't Nowhere ("I've seen the light between wrong and right")Miss America & I ("what the hell did I know about right, I've been wrong all my life")Good DayComing Up RosesStayed (my favorite track)Evil Wind ("four sets of tires later, this ache is still as strong, it's an Evil Wind that's pushin' me along")Actually, they're all great tracks. Buffalo Nickel is a much welcomed break from the over-abundance of kiddie dance garbage and cRAP "music" that currently permeates the airwaves. Buy this CD and take it on the road."

"The Black Crowes wish they could make a record this good. This album ...oops CD (hey it is called Long Play 33 1/3)is excellent from start to finish. It hasnt left my CD player since I bought it. Its one of those CD's that keeps getting better every time you hear it - the vocals, lyrics, everything sound great and it has some awesome rock slide guitar in it. Fool Enough, Stayed and One Man's Ceiling are wondefully crafted songs. One Mans Ceiling has a soulful sound with an infectious harmony part in it - whoo hoo hoo whoo hoo hoo.....This is one of the best CD's Ive heard in a long long time. I highly recommend it!"

"I went into the CD store to find a CD of Nickel Creek. I got the name mixed up and ended up purchasing Buffalo Nickel by mistake. I couldn't return the CD, so I kept it. What adisk! Although I know nothing about the group, it's now one of my favorite rock CDs. All the songs wear very well--like an old leather jacket. Not a single bad track on the disk! Intelligent lyrics with original melodic lines that don't sound contrived or too "hooky." Nothing overly processed here--just straight forward poetry with classic guitar timbres. Gary Stier's voice is just the right mix of intensity and emotion without being pretentious or reverbed up. "Miss America and I" is a hidden classic--revealing adepth of self-awareness in the lyrics that is seldom found today. The disk was made in 2000 and I'm awaiting the next recording. Where are you guys?"
Buffalo Nickel - Finally, a CD with words you WANT to hear

"What a breath of fresh air for airwaves crammed with mindless angst, obscenity and sampled rip-offs of other people's music. Not only are the words distinguishable...they actually tell a story worth listening to. And unlike some albums which feature one or two good songs this one if FULL of them. No duds here.A sound reminiscent of the Eagles but uniquely their own. And a group of musicians who don't need to rely on racey vidoes to get noticed. Highly recommended!"
