CD ReviewsBeautiful... R comme Ralingue | Bordeaux, France | 08/14/2006 (4 out of 5 stars) ""Little Bossa" and "Sad Ones" are perhaps the most beautiful pieces. Anyway, to me. Just for those two, the cd is highly recommended. It starts with "RH Blues", a very good soulful blues. Then, "Relax". "The title tune is just that. Buck comes out first laying back; Jon starts to teach, Jerry is there. The ending is humorous.". Throughout the album, mister Buck Hill is playing without showing off, without pretending. He's there telling you very good stories (compositions + standards) with all HIS SOUL, his sensitivity, his cleverness. You feel a lot of respect for the man and the musician. If you are fond of old Blue Note records like those of Ike Quebec, Stanley Turrentine, Larry Young, Grant Green, don't hesitate on this one please. Because this is really beautiful ! It's the kinda album which will resist over the weeks, months, years and decades. It's groovy, soulful, loving, it makes you love LIFE. The musicians are : Buck Hill (tenor sax), John Ozment (impressive and sensitive on his Hammond A100), Paul Pieper (guitar) and Jerry Jones (drums). A last word, put in loop the last track ("Sad Ones"), and you'll see all the magic..."
