"Buck's one and only release for Anticon ...recorded in 99 and distributed by Anticon in 01...is a brilliant showcase of his personae and varied modes of rhyming/storytelling. From the off-kilter, noirish "to do list" of "hats on beds" to the shear poetic beauty of "secret splendor", to the heart- wrenching "ice", Buck 65 does not limit his choice of material to what will appeal to the broadest audience. Comedy permeates the songs, and somehow Buck is able to adapt to some of the more sonically eccentric production, such as "sunday driver" and "mudslide". Highlights are "pants on fire", "secret splendor", "ice" and "coleco vision".
Many Buck 65 fans either overlook this effort, or dismiss Man Overboard entirely, since it is not quite in the same mold as vertex or synaesthesia. I think it is a great album, and not much of a variation on Buck's formula (for a grander departure, check out Talkin' Honky Blues). Very entertaining and enigmatic music from this talented emcee/producer."
Proud to be Canadian!!!

"This man is a lyrical madman. His rhymes are so down-to-earth that you feel like you know him. Great live performances under his belt as well. Comes from the maritimes in Canada and rates with most all of the underground hip-hop sensations from the U.S.of A. Takes hip-hop to a new level. Keep it up homie.
Much love and respect... PEACE OUT!"
A must own for any real music fan

"This album, unlike most hip-hop that is shoved down the throats of todays youth, is intelligent, fresh, and free of all the cliches that go hand in hand with hip-hop. Here is an album that flows like a dream, full of excellent turn table work, thought provoking and often humorous rhymes and Nova Scotian wit. As a Nova Scotian, I am very proud to see this talented individual getting the recongition he deserves, even if I prefer the language arts series more than his most recent work. Stand out tracks are: Up the Middle, "ice", Hats on beds, Pants on fire, coleco vision, and plastic bag. BUY IT!"
