"This recent recording of Bruckner's second symphony is very fine. Indeed it brings the great playing of the BPO...always a great Bruckner orchestra...and Barenboim's fine qualities as a Bruckner conductor. He has a natural feeling for this music and is one of the best Bruckner conductors today. The only draw back is the slow movement...while this movement is very well played and there are some good things that Barenboim brings to this music, it is clear that it lacks that insight or speical quality that Karajan could bring to this music. The 3rd movement goes very well indeed, to hear one example of the great BPO in action, listen to the last 2 minutes and how the sections of the orchestra work as an overall ensemble.Highly recommended"
