CD ReviewsThese guys rock! 07/30/2000 (5 out of 5 stars) "I could listen to this again and again and again... This is without a doubt one of my favorite discoveries of the last year. Thank you for making these songs. Hurry up with the next album." Transparent demands recognition theedgeradio | Melbourne, VIC AU | 03/03/2003 (4 out of 5 stars) "Its amazing how you can actually hear a band 'mature' between their freshman and sophomore releases. Transparent demands recognition as the definite contenda' among the power-hitters of the genre. From the hard driving title-track to the laid-back, catchy pop of "Human After All", the entire album offers something for everyone. My particular favorites are Transparentare and are Shattered (hence, the sound clips), yet the introspective My Sometimes and Human After All break things up nicely and give you something to think about. The message throughout the album admits our weaknesses and calls out for God's touch. Both the message and the music have stepped up to the next level from their previous self-titled. When you need a fix of great, guitar driven pop, grab a bit of Broomtree and give the volume some exercise.-- Chad -- The Edge On-Line" Great music, great lyrics, perfect for summer J Lee Harshbarger | Ypsilanti, MI United States | 06/19/2002 (5 out of 5 stars) "Every year I rank my favorite CDs, and this was my #1 favorite of 2000. I liked Broomtree's debut (which ranked as one of my top three favorites of a year or so before), but this album is even better. The songs, the singing and playing, and the production are all improved over the thoroughly enjoyable debut.
This Columbus, Ohio band consists of male instrumentalists and a female singer whose singing radiates with lots of personality and cheerfulness. Musically, they remind me of The Go-Go's. I mourned the break-up of The Go-Go's back in the mid-1980s, but with Broomtree on the scene, who needs The Go-Go's? In fact, I did a song-to-song challenge, digging out The Go-Go's "Talk Show" album (Broomtree's sound is closest to this album), and found Broomtree's to be superior in vocal quality especially, but all around I like "Transparent" better than any Go-Go's album, as much as I like The Go-Go's! Not only do I love Broomtree's energetic, cheerful music, but I love the lyrics too. These songs so perfectly express many of my sentiments. Many are personal conversations with God, no pretense, very open, honest, and relaxed yet while keeping in mind awe of God's holiness. Great music, awesome lyrics, exuberant personality, this is one incredible album. I play it again and again every summer. (P.S. If you like Miss Angie's debut CD, you are sure to love this CD!)" |
