"Finally we've gotten a Brook Benton collection that includes two of his absolute best -- "Two Tickets to Paradise" and "Going, Going Gone" -- that for whatever reason have been dropped from other "best of" collections in spite of the fact that they did better on the charts than half the stuff on the other "greatest hits" collections. Both of these songs came out during the British Invasion era -- long after "It's Just A Matter of Time" and long before "Rainy Night in Georgia," so unless you were a big Brook fan with a long memory, you might not recognize the titles. But the sound is uniquely his, haunting and mellow in style. In my opinion, Brook ranks with the greatest male recording artists in history -- in fact, apologies to Ray Charles and many others -- but I'd rate him as the best black singer ever."
Excellent choice to round out your Brook Benton collection.

"This is the only album I've found that contains the song "Walk On The Wild Side" from the motion picture. This, in my opinion, is the absolute best vocal version of this song. It also contains "Hit Record" which is another extremely difficult to find song from the early 60's. I am very pleased with the sound quality and the songs contained here."
BROOK BENTON IS PURE VOCAL SOPHISTICATION !!!!!

"A girlfriend of mine turned me on to BROOK BENTON and I'm so glad she did! What a slick voice this man has, and the 60's sound trappings its encassed in entranced me from the get go. MR. BENTON'S voice is iconic and reeks of pure sophistication here while delivering his smooth yet strong vocals in a way that the listener interprets as completely effortless; like a Spring rain caressing the wildflowers so that all their souls may dance underneath the heavens. I say the music is rather diverse, and has a Soul quality to it, yet mostly it is dominated by an Adult Contempory Pop sound of the 1960's in which the tracks were recorded. BROOK BENTON really does have a fine set of pipes, and I highly recommend his FOR MY BABY - THE BROOK BENTON COLLECTION as its great timeless music - ENJOY!!!!!"
