CD ReviewsThank you, Bridget St. John, for making this music! Chambers Willy | 05/08/2006 (5 out of 5 stars) "Bridget St. John's music, as exemplified by this disc, is absolutely marvelous. I only wish I had discovered her work sooner. Alongside Nico and Sandy Denny, she now reigns supreme in my pantheon of favored avant/pop/folk female vocalists. The album, as originally issued in 1972, consists of some fairly sparse folk/pop musical range arrangements--not far from the style of the albums being issued by Nick Drake at the time, and the production is pretty much the same. In particular, songs like "Nice" and "Thank You For..." are real gems. But perhaps even better are the eight "bonus" tracks recorded in Montreux, Switzerland, as part of a European promotional tour for the album. Here, Bridget St. John sings and plays for the most part on her own, with occasional musical accompaniment by Rick Sanders. Her brief introductions to each song, given in French, are quite charming; and the fact that she is both performing English folk music live and simultaneously addressing a large francophone audience, reveal what a very real talent must have been present on the stage at the time."
