Product DescriptionWhen "From Air to Obscurity" hits following its quiet 30 second introduction, it is a dream. I know that I have stated many bands as having a dreamlike feel to them, but Bride of the Bull, Eli Good's labor of love for two and a half years, seriously makes me feel like Im in a dream, or at least in a remarkably slow, peaceful descent.
While Good's soft vocal style and utilization of atmospheric sounds provide the album with its prevalent dreamlike ambience, Bride of the Bull owes a lot to the buoyant bass lines present throughout the album. Opting to focus less on the low-end and more on mid-tones, the melodic bass lines hold a very noticeable traction that when paired with the drumming of Scott Amendola give the songs a dynamic presence that prevents the dreamy atmosphere from lulling a listener to sleep.
Also spicing up the album are Eli Good's electronic indulgences. Instrumental tracks "Glass Heart" and "Airborne Fisher" provide brief divergences from Bride of the Bull's hazy feel with a refreshing playfulness. The somewhat surreal feel of the short interludes allows for their inclusion without disturbing the albums overall aesthetic. It is Good's ability to maintain this enveloping dreamlike experience while providing dynamic textures that make Bride of the Bull an enjoyable listen.
