CD Reviews

A great start

"Brian Culbertson's debut CD stands second only to his follow up CD "Modern Life". "Aone With You" is the song that was played on the local smooth jazz station at the time and introduced me to this talented musician. But there are enough other good selections that are smooth and relaxing while still generating some interest and there is minimal "filler". While this CD is not as upbeat as "Modern Life", it is definitely worth getting if you like hearing a talented pianist that has a well aranged backup.Verdict: If you are new to Brian Culbertson's music, buy "Modern Life" first. If you like what you hear, try this one too. You won't go wrong."
Talented, gifted, writer

"Great CD, I've heard alot about Brian and when I do I like to get the artist first work to see what motivates them. Certainly He is going to be one of the greats if he keeps his head connected to the Vision. I've heard other cuts/disks of his ... Will get more of his work."
Excellent debut album from Culbie!

"This 1994 debut is absolutely a treat for the ears. While Smooth Jazz has varied in quality ranging from just bland elevator dreck to sheer beauty, this album is the latter. "Long Night Out" is true to it's title. This is a wonderful album for those nights out on the town although it's also a wonderful daytime album as well. "City Lights" is a wonderful opener with really awesome keyboards and great beat and blues sounding guitars. My absolute favorite song however is track 9 "Alone With You". This is without a doubt hte song that made me a fan of Culbertson for there and ever since. The song is a hauntingly beautiful soulful song with beautiful keyboards and the song does some really unique chord changes throughout it's playing time. A wonderful album indeed. You can't really go too wrong with any of his albums! I guarantee it. This is a hidden gem that I highly recommend buying! Buy it today!"
