CD ReviewsPure Genius! T. Miraglia | Castro Valley, CA | 09/29/2009 (5 out of 5 stars) "This is the hottest album I've heard in a long time. Wow! It comes charging right out of the chute with the sizzling hot title song "It is what it is" and barely takes a breath from there. Brian's bass playing is phenomenal, and the stellar line up of artists on this album (listed above) complement his playing perfectly; as it is not just about Brian, the horns and keyboard leads are top notch The horn arrangements are crisp, fresh, tight - and smokin' hot! Darn near set off the smoke alarms. I love the playful take on the Sanford and Son theme where they out funk Fred and Lamont - who'd of thought? - with the exceptional flute solos of Gary Meek. Bottom line, this is instrumental jazz at it's best - forget smooth, contemporary, straight ahead, or any other nonsense label, this is great music played by some of the most talented musicians of our time. Brian is not just genius, he is the 800 lb gorilla on bass. Absolutely outstanding album. The production quality is superb! If you are an old fashioned audiophile (like I am) with a high powered system, and you like the concert hall sound (like rock the neighborhood loud), you're going to love this! Get it and enjoy. I'd give it 6 stars if I could." Amazing CD R. Della Putta | 11/17/2009 (5 out of 5 stars) "The best cd I have heard during the last two years.Good also for those are not oriented to jazz music."
