Product DescriptionNatalie Mannix is an avid soloist, chamber musician, orchestral trombonist and educator. Currently Principal Trombonist of the Delaware Symphony Orchestra, she is also Assistant Professor of Trombone at the University of North Texas after having taught at Towson University in Baltimore. A former member of the United States Navy Band in Washington, D.C., she performed often with their brass quintet, concert and ceremonial band. She maintains a busy performing schedule on the East Coast. In recent years she has performed with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra, Washington Opera, Kennedy Center, Washington Trombone Ensemble and other regional orchestras and brass ensembles. A new music advocate, she has commissioned several works for trombone and continues to perform and promote music by emerging composers. Active as a recording artist, Mannix can be heard on the Grammy-nominated album Interchange: Concertos by Rodrigo and Assad with the Delaware Symphony Orchestra and Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, and Shadowcatcher: Music for Winds, Brass and Percussion [MSR Classics: MS1388] with the faculty and wind ensemble of West Chester University in Pennsylvania. She has also adjudicated local and international solo and ensemble competitions and serves as the chair of the competitions committee for the International Trombone Association and commissions committee for the International Women s Brass Conference. She has appeared as guest artist and clinician at colleges and conferences throughout North America, including the International Trombone Festival events in 2013 and 2016, International Women s Brass Conference, Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic and the American Trombone Workshop. Mannix received degrees from the University of Michigan and Juilliard School and her Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Catholic University. She is a performing artist for Edwards Instrument Company. Pianist Stephanie Bruning has performed extensively as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the Unites States and The Netherlands. In demand as an instructor and adjudicator, she often conducts master classes and has adjudicated numerous competitions, including the 2008 Elizabeth R. Davis Piano Competition and the 2007 International Young Artist's Piano Competition in Washington, D.C. In demand as a collaborative artist, Bruning has performed with well-known brass players such as retired Boston Symphony Orchestra principal trombonist Ron Barron and New York Philharmonic principle trombonist Joseph Alessi. An expert in Native American-influenced music from the early 20th century, she frequently performs and lectures on the subject, notable engagements having included an appearance at the State Department in Washington, D.C. and at the College Music Society National Conference in Salt Lake City. Also an accomplished author on the subject, Bruning compiled and edited the 2-volume book, The Indian Character Piece: Native-American Influenced Piano Works from the Early Twentieth Century, published by Ludwig Masters. She also serves as a reviewer for Clavier Companion regarding new teaching and performance scores. Bruning maintains an active interest in helping students address issues of performance anxiety, and has conducted numerous workshops on the topic at summer music festivals and conferences, including the International Music Festival and Sigma Alpha Iota s Province Day. Bruning is currently Associate Professor of Music and Coordinator of Keyboard Studies at Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland. She has previously been on the faculty of Shepherd University, Anne Arundel Community College and Trinity University.
