CD Reviews

Full Of Fire

(5 out of 5 stars)

"'Conversations' is the very first Capital album for

Brass Construction, the quintessential disco-funk jam band of

the late 1970's.And for it's first six albums the band never left that territory. Then on 1982's one off album for Liberty

called 'Additudes',Brass Construction started to leave that sound behnind in favor of more synthesized techno-funk.And on

this album that sudtle hint turns into a blasting roar as the

band retool themselfs into the more mid 80's style, but this is

one band that had to intention of disbanding it's prized (and

somewhat name saked) horn section.

"We Can Work It Out","Walkin' The Line" and

"Physical Attraction" all sound like the work of a very

competant electro-funk group,even if Brass's collective spirit

prevent them from sounding too lean."Easy" is an easy going

instrumental that leans more toward funk-jazz and has a wonderful guitar line.No ballads to speak of but 'Conversations' is obviously one of Brass Construction's stronger albums and one worthy of a CD reissue, something that

I think this very underrated band deserve to have more of.

Their 4'th and 5'th albums are absolute groove classics and deserve in instant reissue on an national label.Until then this

is something a funk fan can really enjoy!
