Amazon.comThis is one of those irritating collections put together to satisfy a record company's special needs rather than the consumer's. These are the orchestral recordings Anne-Sophie Mutter made for EMI during an interlude in her ongoing relationship with Deutsche Grammophon. Aside from the LP length of each CD, though, it's hard to complain about any of the material. Mutter's Bach (with a strong assist from Salvatore Accardo) is stylish and touching; ditto her Mozart; and the Romantic showpieces (the Lalo in its complete edition) are outgoing and passionate. It may be hard to figure out where to file this set, but all the contents are worth hearing. --Leslie Gerber
