(5 out of 5 stars)
"This cd contains compositions for the church year (from Advent to Trinity Sunday) by Bram Beekman, organist of the 'Oostkerk' Middelburg (Netherlands) Bram Beekman himself performes the compositions on his organ, a baroque instrument by the builders 'De Rijckere' 1779. The works originated partly as improvisations performed during services and recitals, and notated from memory specially for this disc. Entirely in keeping with the composer's pursuance of absolute perfection, Beekman continued to polish his compositions right up until the recording. The style varies considerably, ranging from romantic to cautiously modern; from sugarly and Reger-like to Messiaen. The pieces were conceived with the sound of the 'Oostkerk' organ in mind.A disc with a great example of Dutch organplaying"
