Why no longer available?

"Being a classical music collector can be a frustrating experience. Why this 1991 live recording from St. Petersburg is no longer available is a mystery to me. I remember it got blistering reviews at least on this side of the Atlantic. People must have missed this, what a pity! It remains my favourite recording of Brahms's Violin Sonatas, there is no other recording in which the transitions sound so effortless, violinist and pianist in a state of complete artistic unison. Luckily there are other fine recordings, such as Stern's with Zakin (who in comparison seems to accompany Stern rather than collaborate), and the famous Szeryng/Rubinstein and Suk/Katchen recordings. And yet, I wish you could hear this.
Greetings from Switzerland, David."
