After their initial hits as an over-amped garage band subsided ("You Really Got Me," "All Day and All of the Night"), the Kinks entered a period of that was idiosyncratic and decidely English, meeting with steadily declining interest in the U.S. This 28-song collection presents Kinks songwriter Ray Davies's artistically fertile and neglected period (the mid-'60s to early '70s).
