"this is vintage stuff! if someone does not like good music, don't buy this. fyi, Duane Allman plays some tracks here and it is sweet!! the genre? eh, just good music!"
This is okay, but not Boz's best...

"I heard this LP "back in the day" but no longer have that copy. But I can state that this "audiophile" LP recording sounds no better than other LPs of various ages. The disc does have a nice heft and the packaging is deluxe, but the sound quality is not worth the high price.

As regards the music, I am a fan of early Boz Scaggs and do like this LP, though it is a bit schizophrenic: this has everything from country-blues ("Waiting for a Train") to soul-rock ("I'm Easy") to full-on blues ("Loan me a Dime"), and while any track would sound good on the radio or in a mix tape, throwing them all together on one recording makes for a bit of a jumble. Duane Allman's guitar work, particularly on "Loan me a Dime," seems to get many comments, and it's good work, but hey, it's Duane Allman - listen to those old Allman Brothers albums to really hear him in his element.

Much better is Boz's "Slow Dancer" album: on that one, Johnny Bristol's production permeates the whole record with a soulful sound, Boz's voice is richer and fuller, and the songs sound gutsy and emotive rather than slick and polished as on "Silk Degrees" and some of the other later records.

Don't get me wrong - this is a good album, and I'm glad to have it, but it is not Boz's best."
