CD ReviewsBoys Noize new album 'meh' HighNDrye | MI USA | 11/24/2009 (3 out of 5 stars) "As the other reviews have noted, this album is not going to be what you hope it is. It won't be the hard hitting raunchy over modulated base lines of Oi Oi Oi. It's not going to have epic club tracks that just about every DJ will use in their sets. Lets just say I was pretty let down at the overall album. There are some really nice tracks on the album don't get me wrong, but overall I actually find myself fast forwarding through some of the tracks. I understand where he's going with this album and I hear some very good potential for more of a classic electro feel with some longer tracks but I found myself uninterested more often that I thought. If you want a decent album for listening while you're working, driving, or chatting it's pretty good...but I don't find that this album will fill the club role that 'Oi Oi Oi' did. I don't have a lot of negative things outside of the fact that I found the album pretty 'meh'. Definitely a let down for me. Hopefully you'll find it more entertaining." Another gopal for Boys Noize Matteo Basso | 11/08/2009 (4 out of 5 stars) "Alexander Ridha makes another goal! Power is his second album and he makes a good job, very electro, raw sounds and good crush music. Ridha is the "one-man-band" who give to elettro music a new road, modern and cool this album, is a interested wiev to a new elettro style. But this album have not reach the "power" of the prime work of Ridha, sometimes miss some groove and it remain just too techno without the melody we listened in the first work. Bravo BOYS NOIZE!" He's Done it Again! Brian Lange | Chicago, IL | 11/11/2009 (5 out of 5 stars) "Boys Noize doesn't fail to deliver!
I got a promo copy of this... interestingly enough, he incorporates a robotic voice that states "This is a promotional copy of the new Boys Noize Album, Power on Boys Noize Records. Good stuff" which I thought was completely intentional at first. Until I realized it was on every track. (at least he mixes up the voice) But as far as the record is concerned, it is definitely distinguishable from "Oi Oi Oi" in that is seems like a more mature sound. Still, it's laced with really catchy hooks and beats that make you wanna get up and dance. I feel that the predecessor to "Power" has a harder sound, while this one might be slightly more melodic. Not in a bad way or a poppy way, but... in a good way. I think I'd favor "Oi Oi Oi" over "Power" just slightly, but they're both essential records for any fan of Electro, DnB, or Techno. I feel that he's one of the few artists of his genre that is pumping out amazing consistent stuff these days. Definitely expect to continue to hear about this guy for a while. Good show ol chap!" |
