"Like so many others, I hunted down this CD after hearing the Kossoy's version of "I'll Fly Away" in OH BROTHER WHERE ART THOU and finding a different version on the soundtrack. It was worth the time it took to track it down. The whole CD has that early-morning haunt sound of "I'll Fly Away." "Bowling Green" is great, as are "Poor Ellen Smith," "What Will We Do With The Baby O," "The Darby Ram" and, of course, the heartstopping "I'll Fly Away."This isn't quite bluegrass; it's mountain music with one foot in pre-civil war English/Irish immigrant tunes. Great stuff."
A nice find

"The Kossoy Sisters w Erik Darling blend aching harmonies with plucky, lively banjo to create a very earthy and satisfying listening experience. Of note is the version of "I'll Fly Away" (the version featured in the ACTUAL MOVIE O Brother Where Art Thou, but NOT in the soundtrack). Highly recommended. They don't make music like this anymore..."
Correct an injustice and buy this album

"The Kossoy Sisters version of "I'll Fly Away" as heard in the movie "O Brother Where Art Thou" is far superior to the Gillian Welch version heard on the album. Why the Kossoys weren't included on the multi-million seller soundtrack, unlike every other artist featured in the film, is still a mystery. But whatever the reason, it wasn't fair, so get this album if you loved that song and want to support these artists."
This album is back in print in a box set elsewhere on amazon

"this album is out of print by itself, but the good news is that it is now available as part of a low cost 3 CD box set, which is an even better value, because you get this album plus 2 more old great Tradition label bluegrass CD's all together for 19.98, search amazon music for 'Best of The Bluegrass Tradition' - how cool is that?"

"This is a sweet and uplifting album, despite some of its dark subject matter. The third track, "I'll Fly Away" was in the Coen's classic film "O Brother Where Art Thou." For inexplicable reasons, the Kossoy Sisters' version was not included on the OBWAT soundtrack. This is the only album that has it. The musicianship is excellent, featuring both guitar and banjo. The sisters have an angelic vocal presence. It is a refreshing change from the the fashionable shallowness found in so many contemporary albums."
