"A terrific cd by Bossa Nostra. This group is on Irma, which is an Italian label that has a gigantic catalog of music, whether it be Jazz, compilations, chillout or Bossa. Most famous may be the Sister Bossa series, Mo Plen series among others and they are not to be confused with Idizioni-Ishtar or the other Italian labels. Featured on vocals is Bruna Lopez, a Brazilian singer that has some good attitude in her voice. SHe's cool in I believe the most popular track, "Chico Desperado" and "Jackie", but can also be traditional too. The style of the cd is a mixture of latin vibes, Brazilian vibes and jazz. Some of the cuts are great for partying and dancing to while other cuts are more relaxed and you can pop in and have a drink to. In all honesty, you could hear the cd from beginning to end in a lounge. What's also cool about the CD is that some of the songs have little outros - one of them features a jazzy sax and some crowd cheers like at a football match (soccer).I recommend this CD if you can find it. I took a chance on it, only recognizing "Apocalypso" and was pleasantly surprised with the cd. Not all songs are like this one but there are still some cool cuts here. Check it out! And if you like this, you might like an older cd that Dizzy Gillespie and Flora Purim featured on called "Rythmstick" back in the early 90's. And you might like "Reminiscence Quartet" and another group called "Los Ladrones" too. You can hear some of Bossa Nostra's works on the various Irma compilations."

"I really loved this CD of Italian Lounge Music. I had heard about it when it was reviewed by Marco Worman on the "The World" on Public Radio International. Some of the songs are instrumental only, some are in Italian, some in Spanish and some in English. The opening song "Jackie sings her pain" will have you turning up the volume and singing along. I would recommend this for anyone who has a taste for things with a more Latin/Mediterranean sound."
