Product DescriptionBoondocks has built a dedicated following with a sound steeped in wailing country-blues and Americana, electro-grass, rockin Western swing, and roots music that s comfortable as an old rocking chair and authentically their own. Featuring the songwriting of dynamic vocalist/guitarist Margo Valiante and slide guitarist/mandolinist Aaron Davis, long-haired bassist Bryan Perkes and crafty drummer Andy Peterson tame the fire that is fueled by John Kuzloski s rippin harmonica runs. Recorded, mixed and mastered by Marshall Davis, Double Wide Studio, Jackson, WY, and released on Aaron Davis s own Gros Ventre River Records. Art Design: Sarah Walter. Cover Photo: Aaron Davis. Live at the Silver Dollar (Gros Ventre River Records/2007) is a fourteen-track collection of original tunes as well as obscure and familiar American roots songs. The live recording was tracked January 19-20, 2007 at the historic Silver Dollar Bar in the Wort Hotel in Jackson, Wyoming and showcases their tight vocal harmony, intricate instrumentation, and dynamic stage performance that drifts from slow and soulful to rollicking and rowdy. Valiante's soaring vocals are a strong element, and as her former music professor Gordon Thompson put it, she has a voice that can stop a room." Valiante recently received Honorable Mention from the judges of the Telluride Troubadour Songwriting Competition, a highly regarded contest held annually at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. Harmonica player John Kuzloski was recognized by Bluegrass Now Magazine, describing his "righteous harmonica playing" on Anne and Pete Sibley s album Will you Walk With Me. And Davis, who founded the songwriter concert series, Songwriter's Alley, had one of his songs selected for the television series Road Trip Nation, which was also featured online at MSN.com. His song "1937," about life during the New Deal in Jackson Hole, received runner up honors at the 2008 Dreams Areas Music Festival Songwriter Contest. Though the band has been together less than three years, they have received some great invitations to play on bigger stages. On July 4, 2007, Boondocks performed for Grand Teton Music Festival s Music in the Hole Concert in Jackson Hole for a crowd of 8,000 people. Soon after, they were invited to support James McMurtry and the Heartless Bastards at Music on Main Concert Series in Driggs, Idaho, as well as an opening slot for Yonder Mountain String Band.
