"Mellower than usual, this outstanding Minneapolis-based band continues to produce a quality product. Not as rowdy as the Pogues (Celtic Punk) but more edge than the Oyster Band, this regional band deserves more respect and a larger national following. Thankfully I do a community radio show that allows bands of this ilk a chance to be heard outside their area. If you can't laugh at "Jolly Tinker" or feel a little spooked by "Death in Hennipin", you might want to see your doctor. "Silver Carp", "House Carpenter" and "The Rushes Green" also merit repeated listenings. This is really close to a perfect cd - strong material from front to back - no 'throwaways'. You won't be disappointed with your purchase."
THIS is Boiled In Lead! - a return to the old

"I've been a BiL fan for twenty years now. I've seen them countless times and have enjoyed every show. This disc is a return to the Todd Menton years as he is now back in the band. This collection of songs picks up from where Orb left off. There was Old Lead, Ladle to the Grave, Orb, and then the Adam Stemple years... and now we have Silver. Don't misunderstand, I have no disrespect for Mr. Stemple and I rather liked his contribution to BiL, but Mr. Menton adds a liveliness that I never felt with Mr. Stemple. Mr. Menton's return to BiL takes the band back to that old fun, folk, celtic, and eclectic liveliness.
IMHO, Mr. Menton takes his craft very seriously, but never forgets to have fun with it. The rest of the band shares this too. BiL is a fun band. They are consummate musicians of the highest order, but they do this because they want to, not because they have to. The joy they have making and performing bleeds through and onto this disc.
Silver has funny songs, serious songs, and simply songs that you can listen too, not care what the lyrics are, but still love the music. They take traditional songs, twist them all up, and claim them for their own. I love every song on this album just like I've loved every song on Old Lead, Ladle..., and Orb.
So, if you ever liked the old Boiled in Lead with Todd Menton and were saddened that he left, fear not. He's back, and Boiled in Lead have not suffered for his return. This is the BiL I fell in love with!"
