Track 1 "Here We Are," has a joyous African feel, with Caribbean and Brazilian sounds also in the mix. The infectious dance rhythms and simple, inspiring message never fail to get people moving. "Here We Are" is featured in the independent film "grazer" by award-winning director Onil Chibas. You can hear a full-length version of this song on Body Rhythm's web site at http://bodyrhythm.iuma.com . You can also send e-mail to the band through this site. Track 2 "One America," is a montuno-inspired "dance ballad" with soaring charanga-style flute, evocative lyrics, and a message of Pan American unity. Track 3 "Ay-yah-wah-wan-koh" is a blazing synthesis of hot blues/rock guitar and simmering Afro-Cuban beats. Track 4 "Deja Blue" is a contemplative latin-tinged "dance ballad" with a sophisicated jazzy sound and romantic lyrics. "Deja Blue" was selected number 4 in the Top 20 for 1998 on KEG internet radio and is now receiving major airplay internationally, particularly in Brazil. It is also featured in the independent film "grazer" by Onil Chibas. Track 5 "Falling Star," has a jazz/pop feel, with a pulse of world rhythms and lyrics about a moment of new love. "Falling Star" is now receiving major airplay in Brazil. Track 6 "Cosmic Taxi," is a wild ride through the outer reaches of space on an African groove. Track 7 "Visionary Colors," is evocative of a spiritual and physical journey through the magic deserts of the Southwest. Track 8 "Cuban Strut," is a wild Afro-Cuban tribute to masters of the Conga, and features West African-style slide guitar. Track 9 "Oh-Ay-Oh," synthesizes blues/rock guitar stylings with clave rhythm section work and Afro-Cuban chant. Track 10 "Ghost Dance," features a trance-inspiring blend of Tewa ceremonial drum with Aboriginal Australian didgeridoo and pays tribute to the traditional Ghost Dance, honoring and learning from the spirits of the ancestors. "Some moments were magic, I mean literally," says drummer Richard Vitale about the recording of "Ghost Dance." The whole theme of the song is calling forth the spirits. Well, when we finished the basic tracks we knew that we had done just that. And when Phillip Scott plays the didgeridoo, you can hear them calling back!" Selected Lyrics You can find complete lyrics for all songs on "Feel the Rhythm!" in the accompanying CD booklet. Here We Are ((c)Kabassa Music/Bioluminescent Music BMI) We are family-- We are only one family All people living together, they all feel the same things We've come together from all lands across the seas All bringing happiness come sing along with me Here we are, ah wah ray, oh ah wah ray Here we are, ah wah ray Loads grow lighter by the day, All your sadness will just pass away.... One America ((c)Bioluminescent Music, BMI) Everyday the sunset crashes like thunder, a tropical night Curtain of black velvet, diamond stars glowing bright Faces at the window looking out onto the big city lights, And everywhere they're people of this land There's only one America, beneath a starry sky There's only one America and know the reason why Everyone is connected to the rhythms of the land Rhythms of dancing, Rhythms of singing, Rhythms of the land since time began... Deja Blue ((c)Bioluminescent Music, BMI) Sometimes when I turn a corner, on a windy city street As mesmerized I fantasize, In my lack of sleep The raindrops hit my consciousness, and every face is you Like the calling of a familiar tune, a case of deja blue Sometimes, when the sky is deep, and the bay is calm and glazed A boat is coming through the fog and I'm drifting in a daze Too late I step out of my dream and toss a line to you And you sail off into the haze, just a trace of deja blue And it seems like I was here before, and I was here with you But all that's left of that time and place, is a trace of deja blue... Falling Star ((c)Bioluminescent Music, BMI) Shining-- Keep on shining on Shining-- Keep on shining on for me Love was there, remember the time Underneath the winter sky You recognized it there on that night Funny, so did I Not another falling star, flashing in the night Brightening the winter sky, momentary light Shining on, love keep on shiningfor you and for me Not another falling star, this love will be... Cosmic Taxi ((c)Bioluminescent Music, BMI) It's an unearthly scene when a comet in green Outraces the sky like a gleam in your eye And sometimes it comes down and it touches the ground That's when if you're fast you can jump in at last Take a ride--cosmic taxi Take a ride--cosmic taxi... Ghost Dance ((c)Bioluminescent Music, BMI) Red sun travels across the skies Light and life of the poor and wise Lessons can be learned, listen well There's centuries of stories to tell Tales of the mountains, the sky and sea Spirits of the past whisper quietly Stories of a people who once lived free Stop a moment, listen now to them Red sun shinin' again, spirits whispering when Red sun shinin' again, spirits whispering when...

Body Rhythm Rocks!
10/26/1999
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This band is very aptly named, the rhythms can really reach your body, making it very difficult to sit still while listening. "Deja Blue", "Cuban Strut", and "Ghost Dance" are particularly fine. Definitely highly recommended!"
