Mistitled but still terrific

"The title of Down the Line (His Greatest Hits) is misleading because these are not Bobby Vee's greatest hits...not by a long shot. That being said what this album does give you is 18 great interpretations of Buddy Holly songs, although very different than the versions on I Remember Buddy Holly. These cuts are more recent and even when Vee changes the Holly arrangement significantly they still sound really great. Made in Germany the sound quality is excellent. A lot of the cuts really rock and Bobby Vee's voice is better than ever, on some songs you would never guess that was Bobby Vee singing, his variation is surprising. If you like good music you will not be disappointed, just don't expect the same old Holly arrangements."

"If a person's legacy is how he is remembered, Buddy Holly's lucky day was February 3, 1959 when Bobby Vee stood in for him after the plane crash. Nobody does Buddy Holly like Buddy Holly.....only Bobby Vee does it better. Bobby Vee always pays respects to Buddy Holly and kept him alive for 50 years."
