"Bobby Timmons - what else do you need to explain? He is, I'd dare to say, one of the most overlooked pianists ever. His funky, soulful, rhythmic at the same time simple/complex playing, it does not sound pop-ish at all, but it's at the same time enjoyable for jazz purists. If you are new yo jazz, instead of buying those pop-sounding contemporary (such as David Benoit), buy Bobby Timmons. It will just stick to your ears. I've been a huge fan of bop for years and years, so now I'm listening to quite complex stuff (which most people would call "weird"),but this album is still one of my most beloved albums. Also, any Art Blakey & the Jazz Messengers albums including Lee Morgan, Wayne Shorter and Bobby Timmons are amazing. I'd strongly recommend them all. (Moanin' , Roots & Herbs, A Night in Tunisia, 1958 Paris Olympia, etc...)"

"Bobby Timmons has the simplicity of Ahmad Jamal and the groove of Herbie Hancock. This album is a masterpiece. Timmons might be one of the most overlooked of all pianists."
