"I missed this when it came out in 1997, but I'm delighted to have found it seven years later. Clarinetist Allan Vache and his sextet REALLY cook on this Arbors recording, thanks to stellar work by Johnny Varro on piano, Bucky Pizzarelli on guitar. John Cocuzzi on vibes, Frank Tate on bass and Ed Metz Jr. on drums. Vache is an outstanding clarinetist who's well known on jazz radio and the festival circuit. As a bonus, he borrowed brother Warren Vache Jr. from the Muse label for some fine cornet work on "Cheek to Cheek." You probably won't find this now in your local store, but fortunately it's available on amazon.com. You won't regret getting it. These guys will brighten your day."
