"I'll always be grateful to the late Jerry Washington, "the Bama", for introducing me to a lot of great music on his Saturday blues show on WPFW in Washington, DC. The records he played were all from his own collection, and he never let a show go by without some Bobby Bland. Two of his particular favorite songs, and now mine, too, were "Second Hand Heart" and "Members Only," both of which are on this great CD. Taste, soul, elegance, originality, and deep blues feeling; that was the Bama, and that's Bobby Bland."

"I first became familiar with Bobby "Blue" Bland in the late seventies while in the Army and stationed in Germany. A friend of mine had the "Together Again" (B.B. King and Bobby) LP.
Bobby's voice immediately touched my soul and I instantly became a fan. "First Class Blues" is difinitely one of his best CD's. My personal favorites are "Members Only", "Walkin' & Talkin' & Singin' The Blues" and the version's here of St. James Infirmary" and "Two Steps From the Blues"."
