Everybody's Gettin' Into the Act - Bob Ost

"Bob Ost wrote this wonderful compilation of really interesting, entertaining songs as a contemporary, vaudevillian act. I bought this CD because of the All-Star cast and also because the songs weren't "the usual". I wasn't disappointed. As I listened through, I found myself laughing out loud at many of the songs. Emily Skinner and Mary Testa are a hoot! There is so much extraordinary work hidden in the archives. It's so fun to find newly released recordings of shows that are more "obscure.""Everybody's Gettin' Into the Act" is a great addition to my repertoire and goes into my "keeper" pile."

"If you've ever wanted to get into "Show Business", a thought that's crossed your mind once or twice ~ this might be right up your alley ~ cause "Everybody's Gettin' into the Act" with plenty to choose from. This recording gives you a chance to act out what you've always wanted to do and did in the privacy of your home, backyard or on the playground ~ make up your very own song and make it the best performance of your life. All of us deep down are actors and actresses, one time or another we've performed for our Parents, Grandparents, Uncles and Aunts, and maybe a few friends. We are merely letting out all the talent that has been bundled up ~ and this CD proves once and for all we're only a cast of thousands. Bob Ost (composer/lyricist) has brought together one of the finest cast ~ with nineteen great tracks, everyone is a winner. As pointed out in the liner notes "There aren't too many albums that sport six Tony nominees!" I certainly second the motion, this is a funfilled album that will keep you completely entertained ~ so line up a the box office and get your ticket ~ cause it's SHOW TIME!Total Time: 66:29 on 19 Tracks ~ Varese Records 302-062-178-2 ~ (4/01/2003)"

"I own another Bob Ost collection (A Special Place) which is vastly better than this one. I expected more based on the performers listed but overall I was disappointed. If you must choose between the two, get "A Special Place""
