Synopsis
Album Description To you hard core fans out there you already know who Livingston is. For those who don't, he's been around the Austin scene since before there was one. As a member of the Lost Gonzo Band he's been on countless recordings from Jerry Jeff Walker, Michael Murphey, Ray Wylie Hubbard and then some. Livingston steps up to the plate and swings for the fences on this cool new album. Eliza Gilkyson duets on one track and Lloyd Maines turns in one of his best production jobs yet. Great original Austin-style record with plenty of Acoustic Guitar, Dobro, Steel, Hammond B-3, Fiddle, Accordion, Piano and even sitar & tabla on a couple songs. But rest assured, while heavily influenced by Bob's travels to Eastern countries for 2 decades, this is NOT an instrumental record, but rather one full of his expressive and insightful vocals & lyrics tailor-made to fit any demanding Americana fan's music tastes. CD ReviewsWestern music with an Eastern twist Book Nerd Deluxe | Too deep in East Texas | 09/22/2004 (5 out of 5 stars) "Who couldn't love an album that includes sitars, chanting, fiddling, and yodeling? This CD is a funky mix of all of the above, with lyrics that make you think and laugh. I like every song on the CD and it hasn't been out of my changer since it arrived. If you are a fan of the defunct Lost Gonzo Band, you will welcome the return of Livingston and his introspective, thoughtful songs. My children took one look at this CD and told me I was listening to hippie music. They're right--but it's hippie music updated for this century." Timeless Randall Renter | Dallas | 06/25/2007 (5 out of 5 stars) "I've listened to this CD every week (usually on Sundays) for a few years -- it only gets better with age. I'm shopping for more Bob Livingston stuff and find only 1 previous review -- I have to add my 2-cents. It certainly has a timeless, Eastern slant to cowboy music but it's really not cowboy music at all. Listen to the lyrics and enjoy the music. Waiting for more ..."
